Prayer: Most high, glorious God, Cast Your light into the darkness of my heart. Please Lord, give me the right faith, a firm hope, and profound humility. Help me to find wisdom and perception, so that I may carry out what is truly Your holy will. Help me to always find comfort and peace through a loving relationship with You, a God whose love for each one of us is warm, compassionate and steadfast! Amen.

Verse: “No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light. Then pay attention to how you listen; for to those who have, more will be given; and from those who do not have, even what they seem to have will be taken away.” -Lk 8:16-18

Full Story

A woman became increasingly miserable because of her unfaithful husband. In desperation, she sought the help of a local witch, who offered to make a potion if provided with a consecrated Eucharist as payment. Hesitantly, the woman agreed, and stole a host from the Church of St. Stephen by removing it from her mouth after Communion. She wrapped it in her veil – but a few moments later it began to bleed! She concealed it in her hand, but the blood kept flowing through. Bystanders thought her hand was injured. She quickly ran home, leaving a trail of blood drips behind her. In fear, she hid the contents inside a trunk. That night, a brilliant light pierced through the wood of the trunk, illuminating the entire room. Her and her husband awoke, and knelt in front of the phenomenon until dawn. Humbled by all this, she repented of her theft to a priest, who returned the host to the church with a Eucharistic procession. News quickly spread, triggering an investigation by the church. The host was encased in wax and stored in a tabernacle. As a follow-on miracle, one day it was discovered that the wax encasement had broken into pieces, and the Host was mysteriously enclosed in a crystal container. The host remains intact to this day, inside the crystal. It has also bled again on various occasions over the past 700 years. Many studies have been done on it over the centuries, confirming the authenticity of this miraculous host. Dr. Arthur Hoagland of New Jersey has noted the coagulated blood at the bottom of the crystal sometimes transforms between dried blood and fresh blood.
