Full Story
Bernadette Moriau is a Franciscan Sister and nurse, who had to quit nursing at age 36 due to a debilitating neurological condition known as Cauda Equina. Her disease progressed over the next 40 years, until she required permanent braces and regular morphine. On July 11, 2008, Moriau was praying in Eucharistic adoration when a warm sensation fell over her. She felt called by an inner voice to take off her braces and stop using the morphine. The healing was remarkably instantaneous in her leg and foot, and a full recovery soon followed for her entire body. Her miraculous healing was attributed to her recent pilgrimage to Lourdes, France. This claim initiated an 8-year investigation by over 300 physicians. It became the 70th confirmed miracle from this location, with Vatical approval based on a rigorous process for validating the miracle. There are countless unconfirmed cases, giving Lourdes a reputation for its numerous healings. The case study was featured in the show 60 Minutes in 2023.
