Full Story

Sister Faustina Kowalska encountered numerous visions of Jesus Christ, who spoke to her at length. In one encounter, she was instructed to create an image to depict His infinite mercy, which is now known throughout the world as the Divine Mercy image. In the vision, she saw Him clothed in dazzling bright white. He had His right hand up in blessing and His left hand was touching near His heart where beautiful rays (one red, one pale) poured forth. Jesus told St. Faustina, “By means of this image, I will grant many graces to souls, so let them have access to it.” He also clarified by saying, “Not in the beauty of the color, nor of the brush lies the greatness of this Image, but in My grace”. Many members of the Church were skeptical in regards to these supposed visions, and scrutiny persisted across decades. However, the writings of her diary were eventually acknowledged as theologically brilliant, and the effects of the messages continue to grow since it was published worldwide. Many faithful have reported miracles related to the image, including numerous healings and conversions. In the case of Ugo Festa, he was instantly cured of multiple sclerosis and epilepsy after four days of praying in front of the image. He went on to dedicate his life to spreading the word about this special devotion.
