Prayer: Lord, I ask for an increase in my faith, through the example and intercession of Our Lady, so that I may better serve and praise you on this earth. My pridefulness and sense of importance have become obstacles for me. I ask for your help. I am humbled in my smallness and weakness, in recognizing the brilliant power of God. In this humility, I turn to Christ, I trust in Him as the Savior, and have confidence in his love and mercy for me. Amen.

Full Story
During the Fatima apparitions, “Our Lady of the Holy Rosary” appeared to three visionary children over several months. This culminated in one of the most famous miracles of all time, the Miracle of the Sun (see Related Stories below to read more). This momentous event, however, overshadows some of the other public miracles that occurred during the Fatima apparitions. Aug. 13, 1917: The 4th visitation of the Lady was expected midday, and 20,000 pilgrims traveled to the apparition site in anticipation. However, the visionary children were being detained in the prison for questioning and unable to come. Despite their absence, the public witnessed an incredible atmospheric miracle. Suddenly, there was an explosion of thunder coming from the clear sky, and a brilliant flash of light. The sun turned pale and the atmosphere became yellowish. A beautiful small cloud appeared, and hovered above the oak tree (the site of the previous apparitions). The crowd shouted, “Look! Look! It is a sign from Our Lady!” Sept. 13, 1917: The sun suddenly faded and the hue of the atmosphere changed to a yellowish gold. Then the crowd cried out, “She comes! Look! There! There! How beautiful!’” A luminous oval globe, like a cloud. approached the site where the Lady appeared to the children. It slowly moved into position from the East, and descended above the oak tree. Then it began to rain flower petals from the cloudless sky. A gentle shower of white petals “like round, shining snowflakes floated down towards the earth, in a strong beam of preternatural light.” Contrary to the laws of perspective, the petals became smaller as they approached the ground, and vanished before touching the ground. Many in the crowd fell to their knees and began praying the rosary. After 1917: The falling flower petals repeated two more times on anniversaries of the first apparition (May 13, 1918 and May 13, 1924), as documented by many signed and notarized attestations from reliable witnesses including the local bishop. A photographic plate was also provided in the United States by Antonio Rebelo Martins, along with legal testimony.
