Full Story
During midnight Mass on December 8, 1991, Father Otty Ossa Aristizabal describes what happened after consecration: “…one of the pieces I had divided was showing a red spot and from it a red substance began to ooze, similar to the manner in which blood issues from a wound. …blood flowed only from one side of the Particle, without staining the remainder of the Eucharistic species.” Numerous members of the congregation also witnessed the event, and verified the priest did not have wounds on his own hands. Follow-up studies were then performed at the request of the bishop. It was found the substance was blood, type AB positive, matching the type found on other Eucharistic phenomenon from previous years. The blood has continued to remain fresh over the decades, giving further authentication to the miracle. It is currently housed at the Agustinas Recoletas Convent in Los Teques, where it can still be viewed and venerated today. Amazingly, a secondary event occurred in 1998, when a pilgrim witnessed “the Host as if in flames, and there was a pulsating heart that was bleeding in its center. I saw this for about 30 seconds or so: then the Host returned to normal. I was able to film a part of this miracle with my video camera.” The video can be seen in the Related Links.
